Why Our Beef is Gourmet To understand why our beef is a gourmet eating experience, you need to be able to visualize the life our pampered market steers lead. First of all we test our soil before we plant it to grass to determine which nutrients are needed to raise the best possible meat. We follow the Bio-Ag guidelines to insure that our soil will produce the best possible nutrition for our animals. We also make sure that we provide plenty of fresh water and free access to a balanced natural mineral. This insures that the animals are getting all the nutrients needed for them to produce the best, most nutritious, and flavorful beef. Our animals have access to the freshest grass. You are familiar with what a salad bar looks like when you are the first person to use it. Our cattle have this same experience each day as they graze only the freshest, most succulent, green grass. To insure this we irrigate our grass between each grazing period. Letting the grass rest between each grazing allows natural growth to occur, just like your lawn grows between each mowing. We practice gentle handling of our cattle to keep the level of stress to a minimum. For example as we move our animals to a new grass pad we take our time letting it be as much their idea to move across the former fence line as it is ours. Our steers are very gentle and are accustom to our daily attention, therefore they are not easily startled. British White cattle have become known as the breed to use for "grass fed and finished beef" because of the tender and flavorful meat. All our steers come from our British White herd. Some of our cows and most of our herd bulls have undergone sonogram testing and have exhibited the tenderness factor which can be detected with this procedure. |
